There's a whole physics to all organic forms, which I find strangely reassuring.

Thanks for your post! I've just joined substack and am hoping to connect with more writers here so I subscribed to Edification. It is so sad what's happening on Twitter, but I believe our community will survive. We just need to do a little work to find each other out here in the wild.

Absolutely! Thanks for reading, Raima. I don't know that the writing community will really collapse on Twitter, to be honest. People are responding to a whole host of interrelated troubles, especially the tension around the election and the aggressive fascistic fringe being riled up to intimidate the population. I wonder if the dynamic will shift after the election and people will find their feet to push back against reaction. For my part, I'm staying on Twitter. They can't shut me up!

Same here! I've been on Twitter since the stone age (actually 2008, but it feels about that long). Not going anywhere anytime soon!

I'm so glad to hear from you, Edie! I always looked forward to your Sunday morning updates and miss them. I'm watching what happens in Twittendom before I make any moves myself. Because of the people I follow, I seldom see much of the nastiness. I watch a lot of bird people and writers. Even if we decide to tweet off and let that nest sink, I trust we'll stay in touch so that I'll hear when you get a book deal!

Keep the faith, sister.
